hey guys i've decided im gonna rattle can my k5 camo this weekend. originally a buddy at school who has a hook up at a paint booth said he could paint me pretty cheap, but i wanna try to do camo first. i figure if it looks like Sh*t, then ill just have him paint it orange.

what kind of prep should i do? im washing the truck tomorrow, its all muddy now. what advice do you guys have?

thanks

Soap, water ... as willyswanter says, scotchbrite to scuff it some. Prep work is everything, even with rattle can jobs.

which color should i put down first? do i paint the whole truck green first then do the other colors? which colors look best together?

thanks

I just did this to my new burb. First make sure you get the right colors. Olive drab, flat black, brown, and a tan if desired. Scotch brite pad will work fine, sand down and blemishes and fix up or cut off the rust spots if any. Also dont do any taping, looks funny. I started with black then brown then tan and finished with the green. This order seemed to work best in case I oversprayed it wouldn't be as bad as black overspray on tan and so on. I like the way mine turned out.

I'll post a pic in an hour

ha me and muddybuddy are neighbors, theres a lawn service like 5 mins from our houses called Mow Cow or something and every truck of theirs is painted like a cow

Yes, taping is ... bad. I did it on my sixpack and regret it (brown truck). I'm gonna go back and feather the edges one of these days.

Also rattlecanned the blue truck, by hand, no tape, and used a paint gun for my CUCV... with some rattle touchup.

Yours is almost more like tiger stripes than camo, plus it's not three-colour. Yours is like ... I donno, Mutual Of Omaha Wild Kingdom and ... god, whassisname, Marlon (Marlin?) Perkins! :haha:

Tons more pictures in my signature. This was when it first got painted. It now needs a touchup. A bit faded
