Rear bumper

I may regret posting these. Just got them yesterday in my email. We did these bumpers a long time ago. There are some differences in this rear bumper and our final production unit. This one was done as the R and D process was on going. The center section of this one is taller which made mounting of the reciever tube pretty easy to do.

Freakin SWEET!!! :thumb:

I do like the fact that your new design has a shorter height though, good departure angle is a necessity!!! :thumb:

ya so its yellow whats the problem. look good fit n finish. :eek1:

I was refering to the differences between the then bumper and the now bumper. Damn nice lookin' sub IMHO.

I'm just taking a wild guess and think that this is mine. Am I correct? Would it be too late to add a tire carrier on there as well?

It could be yours. Two of them with reciever tubes both about the same level of completion.

You looking for a swing out? or swing down?

I would like a swing out added to the one that you are alreday making for me. What's the additional cost.

oh man....i haven't checked this thread in a while. that is a teaser picture if ever i saw one, true porn. i'm trying to picture how this new design would look/work with a tire carrier for my DD/work Blazer. i really like the "step" idea as i may need to add a roof rack. i just may have deposit money comming to me soon, wonder where that will go

I hope you don't mind me asking, is there a particular reason you like the swing out as opposed the fold down?

We haven't finished design work on either type as of yet but plans for the swing down are well under way. I'll give you a call on Monday if you're going to be available.

Hopefully I can show an installed pic at some point. My R and D blazer has a lot of snow on and around it right now.:doah:

the fold down ... is waaay easier to get a tire on.:D

Agreed. Unless you have 33's or smaller or a couple of linebackers with you at all times, I think fold down is the way to go.

Plus, if you are stuck up against a tree/rock/cliff/police station you are more likely to have the swing out prevent you from opening your tailgate than if you had a fold down.

The reason I said swing out was that's the only kind I was familiar with. If I go with the fold down how hard is it going to be to get the tailgate open?

that's the exact reason i want a swing out.....i'm in and out of the back all day and sometimes i need to drive with the gate down, hence the tire locked off to the side. plus i'm only going to have a 33 on there too.

We will be doing a swing down. We have some plans and I think you guys that like the swing down will really like the final product. Too early to say much about it but it will be worth a look, that much I promise you.

Alright Kert, I've got another one for you...

I stole these pics from Rokmen for an example (they don't make Chevy parts). Can you make a rear bumper like this for a K5? Make it roughly the width of the rear tailpan opening, have it half in/half out when installed. Maybe even give it a tramp stamp cutout in the center (bowtie, your logo, etc). Also, incorporate the clevi tabs. Ballpark idea on cost?

I know making close to flush mount would mean trimming the frame horns, I'm ok with that. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the K5 booty yet, just thinking...

Psssh, that's it? Not a problem. Less $ than our current bumper. Looks to be much less work actually, definitely less material.

I'd ball park it in the $450ish range.... That's a hale mary.

Was jus curious about a ballpark price for a rear tube winch bumper with swingdown tire carrier...I'll b n the market for one in about 6-8wks...
