Rear Dana 60 out of a Ford 78-79..??

Probably 16-spline. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The same buddy I mentioned before with the snapped shaft couldn't find a 30-spline replacement. He ended up getting a pair of 16-spline shafts and a matching Powr-Lok. All fit in the same housing /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

yea it was probably 16 might have mis counted, how strong are those shafts how well are they holding up for your buddy? They looked pretty think, not 1.5 inches but bigger the 1.25 inches?

Strength is similar with 16 vs. 30 spline as the diameter is the same. He hasn't busted the 16-spline yet - and the ratio is now 4.10 instead of 3.54, and the Powr-Lok, and 38s. It has a tired 351M though. Still I think he's damn lucky /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

A buddy of mine is running a '78 F-250 that has a 16-spline Dana 60 rear, not 100% sure if it was stock but it was that way when he bought it. It has a mild 460, 38" Swampers, and a welded rear axle (Dana 60 front w/ Lockright and 35-spline stubs also). He hasn't broken a rear shaft yet and it has been used pretty hard on the trail (lot of rocky hill climbs and stuff), though he has a Dana 70 sitting in the garage.

as stated in my other post i just picked up one of these axles for free form a friend, im going to throw it in the back of my truck too, this one is a full floater too... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

the one i can get is free too so thats why i am looking hard at it. Though the head farmer is gonna bring by chevy one tons and mite be able to score a 14ff. but till now that 60 is free too.
