rear diff and axle questions

my rear wheel bearing went out and the seal trashed too its leaking 90 weight every where i got the tires and brake drums and popped off my diff. cover and didnt find what i thought was going to find. i found what i belive is posi. :) i thought i had open any way heres a pic just wondering if its stock or what.... also what else is there to taking out the axles on one with posi.?

looks like a gov lock, do a search on gov-lock and ull find all the info
 
well i went out and found some pics and i got gov lock how can you tell if its leaving you? how do i get to my c-clips and all because i need to take out my shafts to replace the bearings, and is it true when one goes that it trashes the whole pumpkin? thanks guys and i would like to get all my answers by morning because monday it has to take me too school.
 
umm, its been awhile since ive took mine out, dont really remeber. I think there should a center pin, like 1" in [SIZE=-1]diameter and its held in by a small bolt, once you pop that off you should be able to push the shafts in the axle which will allow the c clips to come right off.

and as for that, what are you talking about? a clip? or bearing?
 
differential case like the whole rear end could possible crack, ive been looking one here and im bout to go confirm if its factory install or what by lok for g80 in the glove box
 
Take the cross shaft pin bolt out (8mm 6 point) and the pin will come out. Rotate it so the c clips will fall out when you push the axles in. Axle is prolly bad too.

im 100% thats a gov-loc
 
g80 is in the glove box and i went and looked and found the pin and what do you mean my axle is probobaly bad too? from the bearing going out or what as far as i know my gov lock is working fine but when i found out that my wheel bearing went out it was thursday and i heard a grinding noise like something was partialyy engaged or something and it wasnt like a constant grind it would stop and start etc. and wouldnt start grinding til i got it up to around 20 mph and i confirmed it was my bearing when i drove it to a friends and it started leaking 90 weight out the left side. now my question is how do i tell if my gov lok is trash or not?
 
im sure its fine, replace the bearing and fill it back up

ha same thing you do, back in my senior year i used to leave like 50 foot burn out marks everyday. i could make so much smoke. haha then after a year of doing that and wheeling, it finally gave out when i was doing one on my street
 
lol yeah im gonna ease up hopefully in the near future ill be able to get another job in this small town where there is no help needed right now darnet lol and get a 14 bff from a junk yard on the road about a mile from the high school i also want the d44 in the front and its 400 sbc :D
 
aahh i see well got out there at about 9:30 or so this morning got the axles out my left side is kinda chewed i think its usable my dad thinks it should be good for another atleast (hopefully) 30 or 40,000 or at elast till i can afford to put a 14 bolt under it :D also my pinion seams to have some slack im gonna have my dad take a gander at it.
 
k im kinda worried my axle shaft my dad is starting to think it could possibly snap off and i was wondering if i found a 12 bolt if it would bolt back in the ten bolts place. is the drive shaft ujoints or anything to that nature different or is it an exact same swap out? thanks
