Rear Disks now soft pedal**UPDATE(6/7)**... Help!

Ok, so heres what I did this morning with the brakes. I first installed an adjustable proportioning valve in the rear line (summit racing brand). It advertises around 57% reduction in brake pressure I belive. With it all the way reduced I still have the rears locking up first but there is very little weight on the rear of the truck. The fronts do seem to be grabbing better now but still had a lot of pedal travel.

I then started closely examining the pedal travel by moving the pedal with my hand and could feel the pushrod hit the master cylinder. My booster rod has an adjustment on it so I "lengethend" the booster rod by turing it our a few turns and that took some of the slop out of the pedal. I now have much better pedal travel which I'm considering acceptable but not as much brake force as I'd like. However I think going to a smaller master cylinder than I have would give excessive pedal travel again. At this point I'd like to test a residual pressure valve in the front line to possibly get the front grabbing faster. The front rotors are also used and not in the best shape and the front pads arn't worn in to match the front rotors. Everything in the back however is new. I think this could also be contributing.

On a side note I installed speed bleeders in the rear calipers due to the old ones being slightly rounded off. The speed bleeders are not only better because of the speed bleed feature but have a larger surface area for the line wrench and seem less prone to rounding off.

P.S. Locking up 42" swampers in the cauldesac on Saturday morning will bring the neighbors out... :)

See if you can swap the lines on the master cylinder. If you can, check your rear braking performance. The big deal is you wamt more fluid going to the front and less to the rear. The engine helps the rear wheels slow down.

I think we cleared that up in post #26 that I have that correct.

I do have some pressure gauges that hook into the bleeder screw so I can get exact pressures at the caliper but I havn't felt like messing with them. I was thinking about using them and then making a sweet writeup on my setup if I could get it dialed in but i dont remember the part # of the master cylinder im using.
