OK...I was borderline on the rear end sag that Ryoken pointed out...until I went and filled it up with 30 gallons...now I am certain I have rear end sag...what do I do to remedy this? New leaf springs? New shocks?

1" zero rate...look at DIY4X or ORD. Inexpensive, effective, the ride quality doesn't change and it's pretty easy to do yourself.

X2 Works, you just need new U bolts to install.

If some of your leafs aren't cracked, then a zero rate with some new U bolts would be easy on the wallet and simple to install. Personally, I would swap in new leaf springs and U bolts, then get some shocks later on down the road to keep the rear end from bouncing around:waytogo:

Who sells oem replacement leaf springs? Holy mackeral...LMC wants $280 each

If your springs are in ok shape and still level side to side, and you aren't bothered by how they ride (considering shock condition), i would just do the Zero rate add a leaf.

Lots of these trucks were barely level stock.....and some sagged.

Hate to spend $$$ on new springs, and then still need to level wiht zero rates....

I can't think of a name off the top of my head, but I think I got mine from AAA Spring in Salt Lake city. Im sure there would be a shop that makes leaf springs in your area, you can always go Alcan or Deaver, I haven't done any business with them but I believe the mainly specialize in custom built Leaf springs :dunno:

Rears are 2.5", stock fronts are 3" wide, aftermarket fronts are 2.5" wide.

You would have to go out and measure the width of the ones you got under your truck, mine are 2.5" wide, I wouldn't know about 1st or 2nd gen k5s mainly because I'm familiar with my 3rd gen 91.

My mom stole my truck, or i'd go measure, but my 3/4 ton suburban were all the same. Did the 3/4 ton's get 3" rears?

look in the local yellow pages.

truck spring shop or big truck parts supply place.

then ask if thay can get triangle leaf springs. or possible other brands.

then use the 22-403 part # to have then match. its the std # system for leafs.

22 = chevy

403 = the description of the leaf pack.

read post 22 also . more info.

pays to have worked at a spring shop for a year and understand a few things.

and dont bother getting leafs re arched = big waste of money. :D

no wonder all the sites have the same info . thanks

I'll have to get it on a level surface and take pics from the side...the front end is higher than the rear

Realize that the front wheel opening is higher (taller) than the rear.

Really, if you want to check properly, get on a level surface, and measure to the body line crease that runs flat down the side of the whole truck to the ground. Front and rear should be the same.

But then again, who cares what it measures if it looks saggy to you....measurements don't have to be perfect, as long as you think it looks good/level.

Your call.
