No dave NO!!! STOP PLEASE!!! AHHHH!!!!!

Lol, im just saying please dont get too drastic with it, it would be cool if you could keep the body lines as Shady described, keep it lookin somewhat classy :thumb:

I will Adam, not to fret....I will look mostly stock bodied.

Your a girl Adam! its not like the body on the Iron maiden is cherry or anything.

Yes but all I want is one good pic of it all done and sweet lookin before the wheeling begins. Then you can beat the S out of it and I wont care lol.

My rear axle is about 5 inches back. My fenders had been but to fit 38's with a 4" lift. It how has 42's & I just opened up the fender towards the rear. This a pretty old pic. My front axle was still in the stock location. I also stretched my rear wheel tubs by cutting up two sets & making one long set.

Not worried about breakover Dave?

Rene

Not as much as getting a little more wheelbase. this will stretch it out to about 111, and help with rear departure more too.

I like that look Boz, thats more like what I'm going after, except keeping the fang in the rear, and extending the opening with a factory look to it.
I will have to make some metal to fill in the stretch on the outer skin, and inner tubs too.

Here is what I got today,

Hoping to bring this old thread back alive. I am wanting to extend my wheel base also. How is everyone extending the wheel base? what leaf spring and shackles are you using. i was thinking of swaping in some 64" springs without moving the front hanger forward and extending the rear shackle back.

I've always wanted to do this too, but need a K5 to do it on! I think I'd mount a set of 56s up backards, which would move the axle back 4" if I remember right.. I don't think the pinion angle would be too retarded (low) as long as it had a shackle flip, but I could be wrong. In any case...

TTT.

this is what I did, using DIY4X shackle flip and new 3/4t springs from Dayton Spring, and removed 2-3 heavier leaves.

This is what I did to mine....

end result....my bottoms of the fenders were rotted, so off they went....

Nice! All I ever get to do is sit and think about this stuff, so I'm glad that I'm not too far off some of the time!

ETA: Added bonus, not a bunch of spring hanging out the back to get whacked on stuff. I dig it!

It is on Pritchett, not too far in, maybe an hour or two???

I think the bumper hits before the shackle does....from this angle it looks to be the case, I'll check the shackles for rash though!

fender cut

My suggestion would be match the front fender cut. looks would be the same and for the most part your fronts are flexing more than the rear so clearance may be good. only 1 way to tell! I figure cut little could always go more cant go back unless ya weld!!:thumb:
