rear window goes up with gas pedal

the window shoots up nice and fast no problem there only problem is it shoots up so i fast i have to keep putting the window back down so when i accelerate the cable doesnt bind up and break like the last one. i can post a video for the amusement if you guys would like tho haha it is kinda funny to watch. is there a solenoid in the rear switch that could be messing up or anywhere for that matter

the dash switch doesnt seem to be the problem
I don't think you've determined this yet. Disconnect the wires from it (like 2 of us have suggested already), drive it and report back.

i have disconnected the dash switch and driven it but it still goes up. when i remove the fuse that only controls the tailgate switch the problem stops. which either means all my wiring is messed up or the problem is somewhere on the always hot circuit

Ghost in the machine bro.

video or it didn't happen!

Blue is right both wires are hot, did you take the switch completely out and drive with it out?

I drove it with the switch out and still goes up only thing I can think of is the tailgate switch. But all ideas are welcome haha.

Okay so its getting power somewhere. Took me a while to remember but there is three wires going into the switch. One hot. Its the middle one can't remember the color. The other two are for up and down. When you move the switch it sends power to one of the other two wires.

So when you accelerate the motor doesn't stop when the window is at the top of the travel. When you use the switch does it stop?

When I roll mine up doesn't matter how long I hold the switch it just rolls up doesn't twist the drive cable at all.

So I think you must have a fault in the motor somewhere.

This is a weird one for sure, maybe try driving around with the panel off, someone in the back with a multimeter and measure the power going to the wires. I would take the drive cable off so you don't ruin it.

Is the motor supposed to stop once it reaches the top. It could be a short in the motor

IF the motor is supposed to stop when it reaches the top, then something has to tell it to stop.
The motor would not do it by its self.

On that old a machine, I doubt it has anything to stop it, but I could be wrong.
I have been unable to find a schematic on that system.

On some of the new auto down windows, they either have a limit switch, or a relay in series with the motor winding.
When the motor is winding the window down, it is not drawing enough current to cause the relay to pull in.
When it stalls out, it does and the relay trips off the automatic down part.

Having said that, if you does have a limit switch, then that might be a source of the problem.

Since you have eliminated the dash switch, its almost got to be in the tailgate.

There has to be a hot wire going back there for the outside switch to work.
Odds are its going to be in that switch.

It's got to be somewhere it the tailgate. I just wish I could find a schematic of the switch or electrical system in the tailgate. I'm gonna mess with the rear switch tonight and see what I find

Like I suggested before, disconnect the center wire going to the tailgate. There are three single connectors visible between the roll pan and the bumper. I think the hot wire is fatter or the polarity of the connector is opposite. When you unplug that, the front switch should work and the tailgate switch should not.

If this makes the problem go away, it is inside the tailgate - probably in the keyswitch. BTW, that keyswitch is a PITA to get out. You need like 3 elbows in each arm and a boroscope.

alright well ill give that a try hope its something simple if it the key switch ill probably just leave the wire disconnected. Not really a big deal to use the cab switch all the time.

Who's windows stops at the top? Mine sure doesn't, it stops when i let the key go.

99% sure it doesn't stop....it just loads up the motor, just like the windows.....until you let go of the switch.

I certainly could be wrong I have only owned the Jimmy for a couple months now and before then all my other blazers have been manual windows
