I bought a 1991 k5 Blazer on Monday with 6 inches of lift and 35" mud terrrains, 350, 4 speed manual, and I love it!! Anyways my rear window is a power window, but simply hitting the switch on the dash will not lower it, putting the key in the gate switch doesnt lower it either, where should I start to diagnose the problem?

Thanks in Advance

Check the cable that is connected to the window motor, or maybe its just the motor itself.
If you remove the inside tailgate cover you can see a cable going into the motor. Take the cable out, and connect a power drill to it. reverse should make the window go down, if that works maybe the motor is shot.

There's also a safety switch by the latch, Drivers side if I remember right. It makes sure the gate is closed before allowing the motor to go up or down. Pull the cover off the tailgate and see if you get voltage to the motor. You can jumper the safety switch to see if that's the problem.

Check the wiring at the hinge area. Cracked insulation will let moisture in and corrode the wires causing a serious voltage drop. Broken wires will be obvious. What I found on mine was inside the tailgate down by the hinge the wires are spliced to send power to the switch. The splices were just covered by electric tape from the factory eventually letting in moisture and corroding the splices. I cut them back and made new splices and covered the new splices with silicone before shrink wrapping them keeping them seeled for good. That fixed mine.

Oh yeah, and I did the t-gate latch switch delete too while I had it apart.
