I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy, pulled the rearend (3.42) open diff, looks like both carrier bearings outer races have slipped and are leaving lovely metal in the oil.

My question is can this be repaired? Also, what rearends can I put on this truck? Is this the same 10 bolt 7.5 that all S-10's use? I need to start shopping for a new rearend and wanna know what I can use to put back under the truck.

Thanks,
Mav

yea it is the same rear axle that the s-10's use. You might want to think about upgrading to the bigger 10 bolt which was an option under some s-10's. 3.42 gears are common you should have no problem finding a axle to bad you are not closer i have a few 3.42 s-10 rears laying around

you have a 4x4 width 28 spline

you need a 4x4 axle as 2wd are narrower

91+ will be 28 spline, 88-90 are both 26-28 spline depending on options and 84-88 will be the smaller 26 spline

i've got a 3.73 front and rear set if youre interested....
