Rebuilt Cardone Hydroboost

I'm using PSC's pump, steering assist & steering box with a rebuilt Cardone hydroboost unit which has began to leak in the cab from the push rod area after just 3 to 4 miles of use.

My question is, should the rebuilt Cardone hydroboost unit be ok with the PSC's pump or do I need to get a better quality hydroboost unit?

And if so, where can I get a better quality hydroboost unit from?

PSC pumps aren’t anything special. They aren’t a magical better pump. They are just the best”largest” of the stock designs that have had the flow and pressure mods done to them.

So I think you just got unlucky with your hydro boost unit. You could try again or buy your own quality rebuild kit and fix it yourself. If you choose to rebuild yourself I personally would start with a unmollested oem unit rather than a rebuild. You never know what they did during the rebuild

I like Napa stuff but even then it's 50/50 whether a rebuild will be good or not. I try to go with "new" parts any time they offer them and I can afford them. Rebuild quality sucks now days.

Thank you, I felt that I may have just got a bad one, and was wondering if the PSC pump puts out more pressure that the stock hydroboost couldn't handle.

I would have to agree with the other replies...you just got a defective part.

I do the same buy new not rebuilt when possible.
With the rebuild they only fix the problems so you can end up with a high mileage part with 1 or more new components.
And you have to give them a core or pay too much instead

A-1 Cardone has always had a "might be good" quality,even when I sold their rebuilt products back in the 80's and 90's..it was a crap shoot you'd get a good rebuilt water pump,master cylinder,etc..

Lately I think they farm out a lot of their labor to other countries or use unskilled labor,probably not a good paying job either,so those doing the rebuilds aren't that anal about build quality..unfortunately its likely other companies are no different..
Personally I think a salvage yard hydroboost that was working good is just as good as any "rebuilt" nowadays..

WOW! I had no idea. I thru the hydroboost I got from a military 1031 away, the truck had only 4100 miles, then purchased a rebuilt one from Amazon.
Amazon said I had to contact Cardone, (Stanley Choynacky) who asked me where the leak was, then apologized and refurd me back to Amazon. I wish I asked you guys this before I thru the original one away, I would have rebuilt it.
But I'm glad I asked anyway.
