not very "a" peelling is it?
I worked in auto body supply/paint stores during the 80's and 90's when more paint was falling off cars than ever before--I heard several reasons for this, ranging from the "zinc" theory to the possibility of disgruntled workers peeing in the paint at the factory!--but the one I argree with is the one about the paint failing to stick to the primer--that dull black primer GM used was like POR-15,it didnt allow topcoats to adhere properly, and the industry was under fire from the EPA to switch to low volatility paints and thinners, laquer paint was banned in many states, and waterbased enamel appeared in place of the oil based paints, and they started using basecoat/clearcoat at that time--a lot of new things at once,it confused the whole industry for awhile...
I heard of some "silent recalls" where dealers would appease the owners of new vehicles with peeling paint by re-painting them for free, either at the dealership,or "farmed out" to a body shop--but no public announcement, only those who squawked long and loud enough got a free paint job--(and many of them were worse than the original!)..
I think I like primer and bedliner coating better!--my van looked like it had soriasis(spelled wrong!)--so I painted it with ford tractor blue farm paint 8 years ago--22 bucks a gallon, and thinned with naptha!--its only a semi-gloss because I painted it at 90 degrees in the sun--but its not peeling!!--and its not rusted hardly at all, that paint holds up good!!--I did the roof(the worst part for peeling!) with mobile home roof coating!--better than paint,it dont peel!
