I took my jimmy out wheeling without taking out the reciever hitch(dumb i know) and bounced off of it a few times. When i got home i decided to take it off. The reciever is a uhual with Drawtight stamped on it.

Pulled on it, nothing. Pried on it, it moved a little. Beat on it with a BFH and i got it to move in, but then had to use a prybar to move it back out.

Am I missing something, or do i just need to tie it off to something and floor it?:dunno:

Strap and a large unmoving object should work wonders. Be careful.

Thats what i thought, I didn't know if there was a trick to drawtight hitches. Now i just need to find a convient tree

You might try putting just a wee bit of tension on it and then whacking it with a hammer up and down. I'm thinking you must have just barely bent or malformed something.

Does the insert stick all the way through the receiver? If so, you may need to file down an edge there. Otherwise, spray it down with liquid wrench, remove the ball and put a D-ring in there to hold both ends of a strap. Back up to a tree and shift to 4LO.....

nope, there is a plate across the back of the reciever. Looks like after my class tonight i will go find a poor unsuspecting tree on base.

my buddies was rusted in and we just beat on the back side of the tongue with a 10 pound sledge til it came loose and out.

You probably just got a bunch of dirt jammed up in there, a small tug should free it up easily.

i had a reciever stuck in my dailey driver once and it got rusted it place, i took and hooked to a tree in 4lo and yanked and yanked and yaked and couldnt get it out, finally ended up just getting a new hitch from a friend. thing still stuck together behind my shop lol good luck

Had one like that. We did some stupid stuff trying to get it out. The worst was two trucks back to back. Put a heavy blanket ( a couple actually) over the receiver, stood way back. They both floored it on pavement. Didn't budge it, sure was fun watching both those truck come to a dead stop right away though.

yea i was hooked to a tree with about 10 foot of slack in the chain just nailing it in 4 lo trying to break it loose, just stoped me dead in my tracks every try lol

My ex FIL had a similar experience with his old F150. Hadn't taken the tongue out in years...realized it wouldn't come out. Never did get it out even after seriously damaging a tree yanking on it.

When I heard the story there was no tongue in it so I think he cut the whole thing off and built a new receiver.

Torch on the receiver and liquid nitrogen on the hitch.:thumb:

Got it. My buddy cant work the camera in my phone, i have a 3 second clip of my spotlight on the tow strap and the tree.

Was a little sketchy, the tree was snapping and popping then the hitch popped free, (couldn't find a good thick tree so i used a group of 3).
Also hit a small mud hole/puddle. and a foot deep 100yrd stretch of road.

Good night overall

Good job man, The one in my K5 is stuck in it BADLY. When I first got it I tried jerking it out. No dice. So then it was AWN...

Took it to the farm. Tied it off to one of the tractors put in in 4lo with it in 1st gear. Brick on the accelerator to hold tension. Then proceded to heat up the receiver tube with a cherry bud, and beat on it with a sledge. It never did move a bit. Put the pin back in it and 3 years later it still there.

Stupid receiver hitchs. Whenever I get a bumper put on it with a new receiver Im going to never seize the ever living hell out of it everytime a hitch gets put in it.
