I did okay using an ebay tire retailer when I bought my 40s. Just went off the feedback.
I have bought several sets of BFGs from 4Wheelparts. Usually I do it at holidays and catch the sales with free shipping or no taxes or sometimes by 3 get 1 free. They are usually always cheaper than any of my local shops even with my company discounts.

Last 3 sets from discount tire on ebay when they were doing free ship and spend 400 get 100 off . And multi use coupon . So if you had 4 tires at 850 just split to 2 orders of 425 and use coupon 2x anx save 200 . Not sure if still doing that tho .
I was going to mention Discount Tire Direct but I haven't personally used them.
I have. I have bought a lot of tires from them over the last 10ish years. before 2019 no tax, and did and still have free shipping. they will price match. 1 time I ordered General red labels for my kids Van, they didn't have even thou computer said they did when ordered.They called me, and made me a sweet deal on some more expensive tires.

yes I understand I have been less and less satisfied with DTD web site. They won't even show me tires for my burb, cause 16.5, god forbid you try and put together a tire wheel package for a truck that oem 16.5's the site wants to know what vehicle. I wanted to see larger tires for our polaris and went to shop by tire size, instead of showing me tires I got message that my polaris didn't use that size. grrr
I have responded to multiple surveys, and told them of the tire and wheel package deal. Sometimes I just call them and order from a person, they sometimes make you better deal.
I didn't know Tire Rack was doing free shipping now, last I bought a tire from them I had to pay shipping. I needed a replacement, and they where the only source for the same tire, at the time.

Next up will be springs. The front eye on my front spring is spread open a bit more than I'm comfy with. Not to mention they the ride like struts...43 y.o. 2 leaf, they're pretty well given their moneys worth.
Cool story about Tire Rack:
When I purchased my 35-in Generals a few years back, I did the entire transaction online. Then a few hours later, I got a call from customer service, the guy was really cool and just wanted to make sure that these tires were going to fit my truck. After I explained my setup, he was like yeah you know what you're doing. I was thoroughly impressed.

Tire rack has been doing free shipping for a few years now.
I have been buying from them for 15 years, great prices, great service, always fresh tires never more than 6 months old, mostly 2-3 months, tires at my house next day.
But now I am buying from a local shop that I used for 12 years on my big rig, he can get me the tire rack deal for less, so I am going with him.
He basically is getting the tires from their wholesale branch and I pay what it costs me for the tires with taxes and I get free installation.
Works for me.
Tires are in, made an appt. for Monday for installation.
