The hole or center pin are not going to keep the axle from moving. It is just to align the axle. Tight u-bolts, bolts, and spring plates keep the axle from moving. If these aren't tight, the 3/8" center pin will shear anyway...

I agree.DPI said:I drilled a hole on the passenger side casting. I made a groove (not just a hole) on the drive side spring perch, mainly for adjustments. The axle has not moved at all and I have been running it this way for 3+ years... But I check my u-bolts to make sure they're tight before every run.
