Anybody have a part # or know of a vehicle that came with a remote power steering pump reservoir? I'm installing hydro assist and don't want to do the extended hose thing. I don't really care what it looks like, just wanting some extra capacity.

My bigblock does not have a remote rez? Its out of a 92 burb, well all the pulleys and accessories are.

Why do you say they need one?

Correct me if im wrong, but isnt it your basic P/S pump, but instead of that twist lid, its some sort of fitting with a hose, that runs up to the bottom of the rezzy. I have been wanting to do this, for ease of checking P/S fluid and a bit more cooling and such.

These pieces are from a 6.2 blazer..

Yeah, I'm wanting the res in the last pic. The one with the cap. I'm going to look at the yard tomorrow and see what I an find. If not, anybody know if one can be picked up at the local parts house?

My resevoir is similar to Zimmer's but it's from a '83 454 and the nipple is on the bottom. I'm going to mate it to a typical tear drop pump using the Chrysler "boot" and a short hose. The mounting location may change as I'm not real happy with it.

You can get the remote reservoir from a hydro boost big block truck.

Went to the yard today and scored on a couple of items. I think this is the first time I actually got everything I went for. I got two different reservoirs, two of the boots, and a new steering wheel all for $21. Not bad. The boots off of the caravan were a pain in the arse.

The rezzy on top is for hydroboost. The bottom one is just for a remote fill/check point.

I dont want/need hydroboost. But I wanted the rezzy as an easier way of checking fluid levels, plus the extra cooling, and lastly I may do hydro assist one day, so need the extra capacity.

And I searched all day for the boots, couldnt or wouldnt go through the work to get them though. I am thinking of ordering an Astrovan P/S pump rezzy, as it just has a hose nipple on the top, and swapping my parts into it.

I'm gonna use the one on the right. I just grabbed the other one first before I saw the other. I grabbed an extra boot as well just for good measure. I called the dealer for the boot, but it's no longer available.

Good find. Having that reservoir makes checking and filling PS fluid really easy. I haven't seen anyone run one with a tear drop style pump yet. That should give you a lot of extra fluid for that system.

Im still trying to find a way to hook it up. I really dont want to buy a new pump, so I am stuck trying to reduce 1 1/2in inside diameter to 5/8in inside.

Speaking of that, them boots might be the ticket to accomplish this task.

John, did you ever end up changing this? Im having fabricators block on where to mount mine except mine came off a newer want and mounts from the top.

No, no changes yet. I really want to come off of the back of the alt and alt bracket but just haven't messed with it yet. Too many other irons in that fire. :doah:

Edit: I thought about mounting I to the should as that would be real simple on that reservoir but that would lower it about 6" so it would be real close to being level with the top of the pump.

It's hard for me to tell because my fender liners aren't in but I think they'd be too low to mount the reservoir. The fender itself might work but you'll end up with a hose stretching across that area which would seem like it'd be in the way while working on it.

I just don't understand why my m1009 doesn't have this style reservoir. With the extra alternator on top of the power steering pump, its impossible to check the fluid while the engine is running...
