Any helpful hints or suggestions for getting as much of the military grease out of my Hummer tires as possible? Two of my run flats were covered in grease, and I'm wanting to use airsoft pellets to balance.

Thanks

Try Dawn dish soap. I have to do this to 3 of my tires too. Simple green works good on grease too but Dawn is cheaper

simple green will do it.dawn you could fill the tire with weater and add the soap and clean it out much easier i would think.green scratch pad would help in cleaning.

Dawn Dish soap. I used to bathe in that stuff when I worked on the Oil Rig, It takes off everything!

simple green / dawn dish soap blue std stuff / purple power. then scrub brush and water it will come out.

Had dawn at home so gave it a whirl...I never would have thought it would work but it did!

Thanks guys!

blue dawn is what thay use on live animals from spills.

and it works great. i got a 1 qt soak 1 day in 15-40 diesel oil ( thank god new not dirty ) and i washed my hair in the sink at work 2x with it and all out squeaky clean good to go. :waytogo:

Dawn+pressure washer= DONE in 5 min's... :D

Yeah I spent about that long on each tire using a green scotch brite by hand.

Glad you responded...I know your using recentered H1's but are you running airsoft for balancing? How much? I'm planning to go pickup some at walmart tomorrow and will be taking my tires to be mounted on my weld aluminum wheels Friday after work at a buddy of mines shop. My tire changer won't handle anything bigger than 35".

Well.... I dont run Airsoft BB's, or anything, for balancing.
My rig get's a "shimmy" at certain speeds, but nothing nerve racking.

Just reminds me, that I drive a Chevy Truck... :thumb:

I should add that my H1's are "diy recenters".
The guy just torched the middles out, and welded 8-lug Chevy centers in.

I, then, welded (had Chris weld), TWF rock rings on.... as straight as possible.

They actually drive better than my 35's, on Weld wheels, did... :D

I don't get the obsession w/ a "perfect" ride, but, eh.....
Half my floor is sheet metal panels... :haha:

PM member "NorCal_Chris"... He knows all about that BB balancing VooDoo... :D
