Replacing Front seal np 241 Q\'s

My front seal on my X-fer is shot and i need to replace it. Is this the job as the rear? Or does this this have a crush sleeve?

Theres no crush sleeve. Its just like doing the one in there rear other than the fact that its just a bit more of a pain in the ass to get the old one out.

Will work for beer, parts and tools.

Damn dude, you have problems. My x-fer is just leaking out of the front shaft. Does that yoke just come out like the rear? I seem to remember seeing a big friggn nut holding it on. Kinda like an axles' yoke. Thanks guys

Aiight, I did this a couple of weeks ago, and Brandon was there to witness it. It wasn't hard, but took a while. Kinda odd angles to pry that seal out. Yes, there is a big nut that you have to loosen. Get a bigass breaker bar and I think 1 1/8 socket. I had to use my legs to break it free. after that pry that seal up. I used a screwdriver and a hammer. Getting the old stuff out is hard, putting it all back in is easy. Have fun.

Thanks, I did the rear one about a month ago, now its time to do the front. Looks like the warranty ran out on my X-fer case seals this month:)

A 241 is suppose to be full of ATF.....

One just for fun, one simply for pleazer

Re: Replacing Front seal np 241 Q\'s

Hey yield, yeah the 241 case is filled with ATF. If your tranny output shaft seal is leaking it will allow the tranny fluid level to drop and increase your t-case level, to the point where it will start coming out of your slip yoke relief whole.

ftn96, the post above was not for you!!! kinda sounded like a smart a$$ remark, didnt see your post until after made the other reply!! i am a jack arse....

yeah, i need tot fix that seal, i never realized the two made a connection so that the fluid from the trans can reach the t-case..there for a while, i was thinking i was over filling the t-case, but there is really no way!!
