As long as the timing chain hadn't jumped,you can turn the engine over by hand until the timing marks are lined up facing each other,and just install the new chain and gears without moving the crank or cam ,so they line up the same way,and it'll be timed--if it had jumped time or you moved the crank or cam with the chain off,you'll have to set the #1 piston to top dead center and set the timing marks as shown in a manual to get it timed right...it would be best to get a manual and read it as far as the timing gear setup,it can get confusing and you definately dont want to have to take it all apart again ,should you not get the gears lined up perfectly..
Cloyes was the best brand to buy,but I'm sure there are many other brands that are good,I have used some cheap ones and had no troubles but I'd prefer a good brand name one so it wont ever have to be touched again..
