trans cooler lines

thats looks awsome! , i just spent 120 bucks for SS braided -6 lines 66" each,
Very nice lines thought, i had 90ies comming off the tranny , very much prefered over the hard lines. taking on and off trans is a bitch!

Does the hard line just go through the frame and right into the tranny or is there more flexible lines between?Why can't you run flexible line the whole way?

my guess is he used hardline for part of the system cause soft lines are $pendy per ft. Just a guess, I dunno.

Anyway, if you have the bling crimper gizmo, you oughta sell custom lines for peeps here on ck5. I know I'd buy some, I don't have a crimper and don't really wanna deal with making my own lines since I've never messed with soft lines before. Last thing I need to do is blow up a $1500 trans trying to experiment/save $.

Here's my question: I thought that the tranny cooler inlet and outlet were supposed to point up so that any air in the cooler would be able to escape and vent out through the tranny?

And just so you know, mine is pointed up and it goes through the radiator first, then the tranny cooler.

I was thinking the same thing when I put my cooler in the truck. After looking at the factory coolers on two of my other trucks and reading the instructions I mounted mine with the fittings pointing down. I'm guessing that the fluid must push the air out. I know it would push the air out of a fin/tube cooler but I'm still not too sure if it does on a stacked plate cooler.

According to the gauge, my cooler works great with the fittings pointing down.

Louied,Ya attaching the lines to the trans. is a pain.You gotta deal with the frame,trans,exhaust and to boot you can only turn the wrench about 1/8th of a turn at a time.
I like the idea of having the short runs of hard line from the trans with the 90's
what type of 90's did you use.I see they are connected to a double flare union.Did you use some kind of adaptor(45* double flare to the 38* AN fitting)

SUB-ZERO,I have the hard lines on the frame and leading to the trans cooler.All area's that flex(between rad. core and frame,frame and trans) have the soft lines.

Never thought to "make and sell them" tho.
I suppose I could if you wanted.
Just to clarify though.My lines are made of Trans fluid rated rubber hose covered with a stainless braiding.The braiding just coveres the line and helps with poss. abrasion issues.Kinda makes em look purdy too

All I'd need is the total length and what size 45*double flared ends you'd need (1/4",5/16th's,3/8th's).
I'd do it for cost of material only.
(no warrenty stated or implied)....Lawers made me type that!

Oh ya...I'm on vacation in my home land of Canada for the next 2 months and all my tools are in Flagstaff.So if you need the lines right away your out of luck.

Just looking through my subscribed threads for another post.I thought an update would be prudent.

Been 4 years now since I've made my lines and they are still performing great.

That is all.(said in a "M*A*S*H" loudspeaker voice)

the only hard lines used were the lines comming out of the trans about 6"s then to the braided all the way up to the cooler.
