Representing full size love from NY

FYI: those seats are found in the mid 90s trucks/SUVs. My blazer came with a pair too. Make sure they are bolted into the floor properly and not halfassed, mine were. They need good support.

nailed it on the head K85. Looks like whoever removed the stock seats snapped the rusty bolts and they just drilled through the floorpan and secured threads with 2 nuts. whenever my 200 pound wrestling friend sits in the passenger seats it squeaks away when we head into town. Girls not so much.

Good to know theres three of us. I wouldnt mind meeting up locally, too bad theres not a ton of places to wheel (again, legally)

not even to wheel (ive never been wheeling). Some legal club representation and love maybe dinner somewhere, its good to have a local charter in case someone needs a hand, parts, or expertise. We can go to shows together and stuff.

Thanks man yea the rockers have the usually rot a hole or two showing through the paint but I bought it because its all together for the most part. Very nice collection. What year was your trans am?

The T/A was an '85. Nothing special, it was a carbed 305 and a 700r4, oddly with a 9 bolt drum brake rear end. It was a good looking car though without any rust at all.

its a nice thing to find a clean third gen now most have bad rust form the 80s

Just out of curiousity, but do them 90s seats bolt right in? My seats in my Burb suck the big one, and since Im lazy, I wont change them unless thats the case.

No, completely different pattern.

My driver was held in with 3 out of 4 bolts. My passenger, 2 out of 4 bolts :haha: Little bit like a rocking horse that one was :woot::doah:

I couldnt tell you if I wanted too. I have no idea what year the seats came out of and the p/o must of snapped the seat studs and just drilled right through the floorpan with threads from a hardware store and secured it redneck torque with 2 nuts.

Greetings Dan. Ron from upstate, Apalachin area, about 20 miles west of Binghamton. Your body paint is in a little better shape than mine, but our trucks look very similar. http://coloradok5.com/forums/album.php?albumid=960

Again, welcome.

Pleasure Ron. Looks like you got yourself a clean truck. Im kinda hoping to get my hands on a grill like that somewhere down the road. The pictures of your engine bay were very helpful because my cars had an engine swap and components are missing. How can you tell youve had a A/C conversion?

I put newer seats in my 72 and welded new feet to the frame so the stock bolt locations would still work. There no real support under the floor pan underneith except where the stock seat mounts are. The seats the prwvious owner had in mine started ripping holes in the floor because of having them in the way yours are. Welcome to the club and your truck Looks Decent for the rust belt. I brought mine from ca and it got beat Up pretty quick as my Daily Driver for the first few years when I moved out here to pa.

So, that will work if I get 3 out of 4, thats all mine have in them now. :haha: Dang welded nut things broke off.

hello. By beat up pretty quick do you mean rusted? My car will eventually make its way to my body guy and ill have him fix this. Hopefully the rig will hold up until then. Should be fine for now floors are pretty solid.

From what I've been told, the older system has a different condensor? Not 100% sure. My buddy told me that it now takes 134A. I thought you're grill was like mine. I think the PO had a plow on it at one point. That's only way I can account for the ding in the hood AND the bumper being shoved back. Must have hit the corner of the plow on something that didn't wanna move. The inside is getting there. Removed all the cancer and welded in new metal on anyhting that looked remotely bad. Dynamat and new pad through out. Shocks, tires, starter, alternator, dampener, power steering pump ..... the list goes on and on. I had an '84 when I was a teeneager. Gave it to my brother when I went into the Navy. By the time I came back it was trashed. Always wanted another. The chance came around last September and I took it. Now it's just a matter of time before I put it on the road and start reliving my youth. So again welcome. You seem pretty knowledgeable, but if there is anything that you aren't sure about, don't be afraid to start a thread and ask. There is a MOUNTAIN of knowledge for the asking on this site.

thanks ron I went to school for GM and work at a buick dealership, worked for chevy in the past until hurricane sandy got me laid off with no work on the north shore. You guys have been very helpful and im glad im in a community of K5 owners I dont feel like the lone ranger out here anymore gas guzzling 5k pounds of mean metal around town. haha im definitely not afraid to ask if you look in the tech section ive started numerous threads atleast 7+ ;). Yea ive seen some pretty hacked up K5s to fit a plow most people dont know how to install it properly or they just dont care pushing the lower bumper parts back. All the things you listed are stuff im replacing. Whyd you replace power steering pump started whining or not working?

Well when I bought it, the high pressure line had a split in it and everytime I would turn the wheel it would spray fluid all over the engine compartment. Replaced that hose and thought all was good. But then I THOUGHT I had an engine oil leak, so I had a mechanic buddy of mine give it a once over and high pressure clean it in an attempt to locate the leak. He calls me up and tells me the engine is in really good shape for having 194,000 miles but there is a small leak on the back of the pump. Not too big, just enough to keep everything covered in fluid. So that's prompting the pump change.

On a seperate note, sorry for your losses down there during Sandy. I have a sister-in-law that lives in Levittown. They got hit pretty good.

During Irene I had 9' of water in my house. So I know what you guys went through

Thanks. Our f-body parts guy in jersey lost everything numerous cars its hard cant imagine being close to water. Sorry to hear but your home in irene. My home wasnt damaged sandy killed the two pine trees on my front lawn. My mom wasnt a fan but my factory paintjobs were :woot:. I parked the trans am on the middle of the front lawn were there were no trees, I assure you if all the neighborhood didnt already think I was a redneck it was now confirmed. Lost my job being a new tech and things got real slow I was cleaning the whole dealership working on lot cars, mopping everyday. Its was like people just stopped showing up and they had other thinks to worry about then getting there cars fixed. Of course a lil sweet old lady shows up in the eye of the storm an hour before we closed asking for wiperblades on her cavalier :p:

Good looking truck man. I've got family on Long Island and I'm in Jersey. If any of you Lower NY guys are down to wheel, there's going to be a Rausch Creek run this summer in Eastern PA
