How far up towards the front did you go on the rear with the underlay? Did you go all the way to the edge or just to where the rear seat locks in? I would like to go as thick as possible. I can get varrying qualities of memory foam in 1/2" and 1/4" thicknesses...I also have to factor in the fiber pad underneath that in addition to those thicknesses.
I went to front edge where it dropped off for the rear seat footwell.

Update: Memory foam underlay for rear
Ok I finally got the memory foam underlay for my Blazer.
It is a 1" layer of 4lb memory foam glued to a 1/4" fiber pad. As far as the quality of the memory foam its pretty good. The stuff you buy in Target or Walmart is approx 3lb or less dense and the stuff Tempurpedic uses is 5.3lb. I am a bed geek so just to explain how they judge the quality, they take a cubic block of the foam and weigh it so the more it weighs the better quality and more consistant the foam is. I have a Tempurpedic mattress and it is 6 years old and still looks like new so I believe in the product enough to use as an underlay in my truck.
Installation is easy as long as you bond the memory foam to the fiber pad first. If you don't the memory foam is too floppy and hard to work with. The fiber pad gives it enough rigidity to work with easily and thus cut for a perfect fit.
I must say it looks quite nice and is super comfortable.
I would not go any thicker than a 1 1/4" total as the sill plate on the rear needed longer screws.
Besides the comfort the cool factor is pretty high. The girl I am dating couldn't wait to see how it turned out and she was impressed with the improvement it made.

The noise level and the rigidity of the cab has greatly improved. I was expecting Caddy quiet but my expectations may have been a bit unrealistic.
I noticed the biggest difference last week when we were driving to the frisbee golf course. I had the back and both side windows down, listenening to radio, and still having a conversation (including the guy in the back seat) at highway speeds approx 55-60 mph. It was one of those "huh" moments. I have only done one of the doors so far and that made an even bigger improvement. I still have to do the passenger door and the roof before I can make a final report.
I ordered a new deck and speakers with hands free capabilities so I am hoping all the dynamat will help the clarity when talking on the phone.

I finally got the factory correct fabric from SMS Fabrics (Thanks Teck!) and I was happy with the quality. The upholserer is about half way done so I decided to paint the plastic pieces in the meantime.

The plastic part was broken on the passenger side (as they always do) so after much searching I found a blue one. I ordered the LMC dye and it wasnt even close so I had to paint the rest of the plastic pieces to match. You can see the original color on the broken piece.

Look at sem interior dye they have a better selection of colors. That is what I used.
The seats look good, but I see it looks like they put a seam around the bottom cushion. That was one thing I told mine guy I did not want because that was not how they were from the factory. Do it take it wrong that still look good. I was just that picky about how I wanted mine done.

Yea I thought that too. He said he couldn't get all wrinkles out without them though and I really didnt know what to say. I probably should have just sent them to your guy. Should I tell him to redo them? He is charging me $400 a seat...and that was after some serious haggling.

Did you buy the stretch material or the regular material.
You have to have the stretch material to do them without the seam. And yes they are alot harder to do. But for that much money I would want them done right. The problem now is that fabric isn't cheap to just start over.

The SMS rep never gave me the option to choose. If I had to guess I would say no as I dont think the fabric they sent me would stretch at all. They sent me the wrong fabric at first so it took like 2 months to get the right stuff.
How wide was it? I think the regular is 55" to 60", the stretch is only 40" to 45" wide

Its 60. Did your upholsterer or SMS suggest you use stretch rather than regular to get it factory exact?
