hey so what does everyone use for securing axes, shovels, spare axles, etc. in the cargo area of your blazers?

Here is my setup. I got some holders from an online firefighting website. THey work really well. I just mounted them to existing holes that the side panels mount to. Ive had them on there for 3 years and been off roading and never had any issues of them coming loose.

I dont have the spare tire inside any more, but this pic just shows how lil room the axe/shovel takes up.

I built brackets for my hi-lift. Bolts to the spare tire carrier and to a frame that uses the top bolts. I also made a rack for my two ammo cans. One is first aide/survival stuff and the other is recovery gear.

I like the fire recovery rack idea for the axles. I was going to make PVC tubes to hold them that way. I saw another guy that made brackets on the frame rails.

IVe got my hilift mounted on my rear tire carrier, but I like that idea you had/did. Its out of the way and looks easy to get to. Nice.

Look at the post above yours, that is basically a quick fist, they work okay. but if you off road and bounce around alot they move and flex.

I have the rubber clamps I posted mounted to the tops of the wheelwells in my truck to hold my shovel. I have done the Rubicon, Tank Trap and a bunch of other stuff, and the shovel has never budged. I have had good luck with them, really.

hey badmix, do those brackets ever work themselves loose?

do you think it would be strong enough to hold a spare axle?

Mine have never worked loose. THe holders would hold an axle fine, its the support behind them. Ive got one end mounted to the tab that holds the side panels, so it would probably need reinforced. What I want to do is just get a flat piece of steel or aluminum, run it from the bed rail down to the floor. That way you have support top and bottom and can mount anything to the side of it. So far my stuff works well. not sure about axle at this present time though.
