Vapor lock could be an issue but the fact it still didn’t run after sitting kills that thought to me. Same thought kills any idea of a coil or hei module getting hot and quitting when it didn’t want to run after sitting.

Sounds like a restriction.

If this were me and I was going to rely on driving this rig thousands of miles on road trips, I would put new parts in. Especially now that you know there is an issue.

Finally had some time to hink about this thing.

Measured the tank. 40 gallon. Looked like it when I pulled it. I am thinking that when I thought I had ran it out of gas before I left, that was the first time it had the issue.

I am now leaning towards a heating of the fuel issue. Not by the exhaust, as I could hold onto those lines and the filter. They were warm, but not at all hot. The issue must be in the feed line behind the water pump or in the carburetor itself.

Vapor lock at the carb, is not uncommon. From the pump to the carb is.
Has that fuel line been modified?

I forget, when you were running it off the 5 gallon can was that with the mechanical or an electric pump? You had the problem then too right?

Well I was just thinking if you were using electric then and not running it through the factory lines, wouldn’t that rule out vapor lock in the one from the pump to carb?

Took a break with wrestling Eileen's Corvette AC to work on this thing.

Pulled the thermostat because the truck runs at a little over 200 everywhere. Thinking it had a 195 thermostat. Nope 205. Why? All they had on hand? Who knows!

Put a 180* in and it sat at idle while I checked the AC pressures again, which are holding now.

Puting the Choke system back in it so it will start easier cold.

Car show 30 miles away tomorrow. My rescue crew is going with me in their cars, so it has to make it back under its own power.
