reuse of windshield and removable top window seals?

While not necessarily difficult to install them it’s a pain in the ( ! )
So I get new and hope that’s the last time I’ll have to change them.

used seals are easy to reinstall. New ones can be a real bitch though.

I have done both. New can be pretty stiff but sometimes the used are in rough shape. Its really a condition thing to decide.

If I'm saving the glass, I cut the gasket. New stuff is cheap and the old rubber parts are pushing 40 years old. I also know a guy who stocks precision seals at wholesale prices that is 2 miles down the road here so that helps.

have only ever resued, but a 10 year old seal that was reused 12 years ago is now showing it...
- keys have shrunk and there is a gap where the ends used to meet.
-corners at the top of the windshield are looking like they dont fill the pocket of the window frame quite enough- IM guessing that has shrunk as well -may be letting water into the channel. would be time to deal with it and check for rust, but im thinking my K5 is going out to the desert for a few years and will be based out there as a toy. rust and wetness will not be an issue out there.

I've been looking at using Steele Rubber Products. All of the seals for the squarebody are made in the USA. To replace every seal and weatherstrip is about $800

Call or text Jon from the business card I posted. He sells Precision seals and is a local small business and has everything in stock for our trucks.

I'm using seals from him on all of my projects and it was about $350-400 for everything on a regular cab truck. I did buy everything before the last price increase from Precision though. They fit great and have a good reputation for quality.

Isn't Precision made oversees? I would rather support US manufacturing. The $800 also includes all of the seals for the removable top.
