Hey guys quick question, I’m swapping in a SM465 in my blazer which had a 700r4 and I’m going to be replacing the reverse switch on the 4 speed. My switch looks like this:2A66F8FF-D43B-420C-9C47-1E3FB9A6C163.jpeg
I know the reverse light wires run from the column and are supposed to be green and blue, I’m going to try to get a connector that fits this plug but if I can’t I was wondering if anyone could tell me which wire goes where on the switch in case I have to jerry rig it myself. Thanks in advance.

I don't think it matters as the is engaged by reverse position. It is only on or off defined by the transmission being in reverse or not.

It's been a long time since I swapped mine over, but I want to say there is a reverse wire disconnect in the engine bay near where it comes out the firewall(?). With the 465, believe that the trans side of the wiring connects there. My memory sucks, but I don't recall having to get all complicated running the reverse wiring.

I am a huge disliker of that switch style. The later switch with weatherpack are far superior. I'm not sure if the switches are interchangeable (I'm betting yes), but if they are, I would HIGHLY recommend throwing the weatherpack style in there.

It looks like the switches are interchangeable so I’ll take my old switch when I go to pick up a new one and compare. I can’t seem to find the right connector for it online though, If I can find a connector for the weatherpack kind with some pigtails then I’ll be set.

Does this:

look like the right connector for this:3D116EEF-3B8A-40BC-B593-25EEB8EB2AE2.jpeg
Style switch?

Its the right style, although an odd color. As far as I can tell, GM didn't use different keyways on the weatherpacks, so that connector would probably work fine.

These might be the correct connectors for the wiring harness end of the trans reverse wires.

If you plan on doing a bit of wiring, a $20 crimper and some automotive wire will make life pretty easy since all the connectors and terminals are easily purchased still, and the cheap crimper will do the majority of everything on the truck. Better/easier than soldering/splicing IMO.

Thanks I appreciate it. I have plenty of wiring/electrical experience so that shouldn’t be a problem I just needed to know if anyone knew which wire went to which side.

The switch simply completes the circuit, so shouldn't matter. Except of course later on, if you have to diagnose for whatever reason.

If you can see my signature, the wiring manuals are at that link.
