Ring and Pinion install ,,Help

You can order some from Randy's or see if the local parts store sells it. Even better just use some white lith grease, works well enough to see the pattern.
You need to get a shim kit and it will probably come with the compound. The shim kit will come with pinion and carrier shims. You will need some tools to do this set up. Bearing spliter, Dial indicator, micrometer, and a shop press would make the job cake. If you do not have a shop press you can just shim the big pinion race to get your desired pinion depth.

if you havnt got it right yet take it to the shop its about $200-$500
for them to set it up. trust me. i only replaced ring and pinion bearings due to howl put it back followed all specs and just ended up with a howl thats not as loud.

This is how the image should look. Looks like you put way too much marking compound on. It also looks like you have no backlash, so you can't see what the pinion depth is.. Notice and head me saying "It Looks Like" because i can't tell from the pics.

And why do you have grease all over the carrier bearings?

Thanks for all the info , i m going to take it to a shop to get 1 and done .

the greese on the bearings ? ... well i figured all bearing should have greese on them, Right.

and from the 2 pic the one is before and after , very noticable track on the one side not sure if that track is d-side or coast side.???

Thanks again Chief

You don't want any grease on your diff bearings. A squirt of gear oil at the time of assembly is all you need. I don't know if the grease will hurt things or not. It looks as if you are in too deep. You should probably take it to a shop. If you still plan on fixing it yourseld, at least get some proper marking compound. It makes the pattern much easier to see. That would help those of us who want to help you do it right.
