Since there are a bunch of diesel truck/trailer nuts around here like me, I thought a few might be interested in a trailer thread.

Plans are 25+5" beaver tail deck, tandem 10K Al-ko axles, dual jacks, aluminum folding ramps, LED lighting, and possibly a winch up front.

Hmmm, looks like there are problems attaching pictures. Guess I'll try adding photos of the progress later.:dunno: I'm 2/3 through the build so far actually.

Ok, up linked from photobucket.

Looks sweet already :waytogo: what are the steel specs, as far as c channel sizes on the main and top frame as well as x members ? I've built a few small trailers , nothing bigger then a 6x12 single axle, but have been toying with the idea of doing a bigger one. We need a new one for work and are having a hard time finding one that is exactly what we want, so I may have to build one or at least do some serious mods to one.

I've had the steel for over a year, so I'd have to go find my reciept to get the poundage rating, but the main frame is 10" channel and the deck frame is 5". The main frame has 3" channel x members on 48" centers front to back, including a couple crossmembers down on the axle hangers per Dexter's instructions. There are two 6" channel crossmembers in place of 3" in two critical stress points in the trailer. The pictures above should show placement pretty well. The torque tube running through the center of the main frame is 4" square that I believe is 1/4" thick. The deck will have 2" square tubing crossmembers on 16" centers. Every other xmember will be 1/4" square, while every other will be 1/8". So, as we lay in the x members we will start with a 1/4" piece, next 1/8", another 1/4", you get it. The idea is to save some weight there. Roughly 160 linear feet of 1/4" 2" square would get heavy quick.

I'll go dig my receipt up later and get the poundage, but something tells me I want to say 14lb on the 10".

Intended use is to haul my Backhoe, misc. small tractors, rice spray rig, couple different forklifts, etc. We farm a bunch of different pieces of ground that we have to haul our equipment to and from, and we have two yard locations that I need to move forklifts back and forth from, etc.

When and how are you going to mount a gooseneck ball in the back of the blazer?

:flipoff7:

Trailer looks good man. I've been wanting to pick up a 20' gooseneck for a while now.... just not funds ar the moment...

Can you run super singles on a gooseneck? And if yes, have you considered it?

How much do those trailers weigh, and what's the load capacity, on the one you are building and the one hooked to your 01 in the prior pic ?

When you say super singles, I think of the SS that are 22.5" and are in the place of duals on semis with axles that have a 20K capacity. I am unfamiliar of any kind of miniature super single for the 10K axles. Regardless, duals work just fine for me.

The 20' triple axle that is completed weighs 4100lbs. It's capacity gross is about 22K lbs, net would be around 18K. It's got (3) 6K 8 lug axles under it all with brakes.

The new beaver tail 30' will likely weigh around 6600lbs, our best guess anyway. Capacity will be around 24K gross and 18K net.

It's been one thing after another around here and haven't had much time to work on the trailer, but we did finish getting the beaver tail squared up and all the cross members are finally in.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. I never thought of it before until I saw you're trailer so I thought I would ask. Probably know real advantage on a goose beck trailer.:dunno:

Not only would there be no advantage, they would bring a huge disadvantage. 22.5" SS's are roughly the same height as a 40" swamper, are very heavy, and only come in 10 lug bud.
