This is the fire that has things all snarled up on I-70 right now, I suspect they will have the Canyon open in the coming days but it will be a much reduced speeds and have significant delays possible as the rock formations are massively unstable now that the vegitation has burned and the rock got super heated.
Things are much better now, however there was a thunderstorm that came through yesterday afternoon and a lighting strike lit a new fire about 2 miles from my house. That fire is now "out" but it burned about 60 acres in 1 1/2hrs and nearly burned at least 5 houses including one of my coworkers house.
So I literally dropped every and ran out of my office at 2:00 this afternoon when I was doing this post originally, because the above mentioned fire flared up and was attempting to head the two miles to my house.

picture of this afternoons flair up from a county road a ways off from my house.
It got knocked down and hopefully will be out soon, they brought in a bigger dozer to make fire line tonight.
AS BB approaches and you need to go through western Colorado please pay attention and also make sure the road your GPS routes you on are viable. As mentioned there are alternate routes that are not for trailers.
As of tonight, Rumor has it I-70 will be open in days not weeks. I think they’re working on the highway now 24-7 as I’ve seen what has to be big work lights reflecting off the smoke in Glenwood Canyon the last few nights
