I think this one was swaped in because it is an 88. I am woried about that dana 30 up front though. I have seen the insides of them. They are really weak looking. You can put dana 44 shafts in them I heard though, to help with the axle u-joint problem.

get an avalanche engineering sniper. you can get em with 2.5t axles, 502 engines, atlas tcases, and 48" michelins. bring on the rocks.

I guess if $3k is it, I'd prolly go with a FI'ed Sammy. Anything but a heep. I'd rather hike a trail than run it in a heep.

Just for the sake of the post count im gonna have to post just to agree with everyone /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Go with a short bed standeard cab SFA Yota or either cherokee or Camanchee. Personally I would do the Comanchee. Cut some axles down to the right size and run her.
 
For Rockcrawling a Comanche is awesome. Long WB, Good suspension and decent power train. Find an old Grand Wagoneer and get the D44s out of it and you would have a hell of a wheeler. The weight distribution helps em out a ton too. My buddies has these mods done to it and it wheels like crazy. Even with its current open diffs.
