I just got a beautiful 89 Jimmy from Mic Dill Air Force base for 1000s.

I already got her some new tires and made quick release pins for the doors. The tops off as well. But where would be the best place to get her a roll bar or roll cage? Or would it be easier to make one my self?? (Granted I am a novice welder)

Welcome to the Site!

Making one yourself is a great way to get into your truck and learn some things. You need to pick up the tools to do it though, wich can be costly.

Smittybuilt used to make a cage, not sure if they still do
autopower might have one
as well as jegs.

plenty of threads with cage designs if you were to go making your own route. As long as you plan it out and take your time you will be happy with the results

Most that have used the SW cage have not been real satisfied with it I believe. If you never plan on building any other cage for any reason then have a cage built. But if you like fabrication and want to learn so you can build a cage for your truck, help your friends bend some tube and future projects then by all means, buy a bender and practice up on your welding skills and do it yourself. It's alot of work, and alot of fun too, but you will learn a hell of alot along the way. And in the end you can say you did it your self. As was said, lots and lots of cage designs to look at here. Search for cages here for ideas. You will like what you see.
