school me on padding.. :bow::wink1:

best brand, distributor, etc? just want black for my 2".. Summit?

whats everyone do, just a few black zipties? velcro straps?

I did see the fancy schmancy, velcro ended stuff, but not in 2"..

If you can find a source -- I have a buddy in the industry -- I find the industrial-strength pipe insulation works. It comes in one-piece, slide-over-the-end or slit seam, and you can get it up to 3/4" or 1" thick. Cover it with the fancy fabric or just poly tape, and you're golden.

(Now, if you have to pay retail for it, it's prolly stupidly expensive...)

Don't get the SFI stuff that covers half the pipe for low speed stuff like offroad

It's way too hard

I use the summit padding with some black zips. Works pretty well. I have hit my noggin a couple times now without knocking myself out. You could always dress it more with the Wrapz covers. I think they sell those at Summit as well.

some company makes padding thats shaped like an egg, it wraps the rollcage and it has a thicker side that you position on the side that is towards your head, i can't remember who made it tho, but it sounded like a good concept.

IIRC the SFI-rated rollbar padding is designed to work in conjunction with a helmet...

I use the foam-style, can't remember where I got it. But regular zip ties will cut through that quickly. I had good luck with velcro strap cable ties; I think I got mine at Ace Hardware.

Does anyone make it for vehicle applications that has peel off to find the sticky stuff to join it together after you slide over the tube ?

I saw some black tube covers in my warehouse for pipe appliacations with sticky stuff so they can be joined at the seam without wrap or zip ties .

cool, thanks, would make sense... :D

I think I'll go the velcro strap approach to fit it all up and get it on the road..

what I think I'll do in the end, is have my canvas guy (perks of the marine biz) make up some covers in waterproof black vinyl.. sewn edges, etc with maybe some good marine velcro the whole length..

he'll do it for material cost and a case of beer... :wink1:

hadn't seen that....

I seem to remember seeing foam ones with velcro on the ends.. where it's cut...

I like the idea of a cover... they do some pretty cool stuff on the boats these days... plus, it'll be easier to clean mud from than foam I'd guess...

i went to wal-mart and picked up some of those foam pool noodles. like a buck fitty for 4 feet.

if there is an Ace Hardware where you live, they carry the 2" foam, and zip ties work great

I use the offset from summit and use zip ties. The ones in the sun lasted about 2 years with the top off. The others are still holding up well.

Same setup here, dont waste your money on that high end sfi stuff, there's no need for it in your application.

Yah, but what color are they? Purple or lime green?

purple of course :) they didnt have lime green. other two choices were peach and baby blue so purple was the more manly color :p:
