rollcage... bed or no bed

i have an 86 chevy k10 stepside i know i want to do a rollbar style setup in the back. do i leave the bed on and do a exo-cage type setup and come up where the steps are or do i remove it all together and build right off the frame. any pics would be greatly appreciated. no buddy really does a true roll bar in the bed everyone just bolts them to the bed florr but thats not whats im looking for safety wise

i really love this truck but i kinda want to keep my bed too not sure how to do both or just remove thanks again

You could do what I'm planning to do on my k10... yank the bed, build a cage then chop the bed sides out of the bed and bolt them to the cage.
A few guys do it and I've seen a couple of trucks in person that have done it and it works out great... on trails just yank them off but for lighter stuff keep the sides on for a truck look.

What he said ^^^^^^^^, almost like a Desert Pre RUnner style. PUt a metal floor like in your org. post and then put some bed sides, maybe even go with pre runner fiberglass, but if your woods bashing it , go with some OEM steel stuff. It would look better than an exo outside the bed.

When I do the Crewcab swap on mine Im tossing around the cage/bed idea like you have now.

I vote sell your bed for more funds for the build

Bed for a stock look, and no bed for an all time 4x4
