Rough idol

This may be way too simple but I had a rough idle after letting my truck sit off and on for about two years. After replacing the plugs and wires, it would run fine for the first few minutes but after it warmed up, the rough idle returned. Turned out that I had a fouled PCV valve. Best $4 I spent.
Was it stickey how did you know it was bad ?

It wasn't stuck but it was very oily. It was a shot in the dark since I had already done wires and plugs. I figured I'd replace the PCV for $4 before I started replacing the distributor, sensors, etc. I got lucky. I had seem some forum posts online where people were seeing rough idle problems and the PCV fixed it. I guess it was causing a vacuum problem. My shotgun approach to troubleshooting it probably wasn't very scientific.

Do you have spark right after it dies. Try checking with a screw driver right after it dies.
