Rough running and dieing

IMHO, a tune up is always a good idea! Yes it could have an impact on how well your vehicle runs. If the plug wires are degraded you could see a weak spark or crossfire. Your plug wires could be "leaking" into each other, simply put, changing your firing order. You should check the distributor contacts. Clean them, clean the contacts on the plug wire terminals also. See the picture I have attacked. Imagine this happening from plug wire to plug wire. This could be a source of "misfire". Also make sure your wires are properly spaced from one another, not crossed and not sitting on an exhaust manifold. Pulling plug wires for inspection and visually inspecting the distributor cap should take only a few minutes.

Inline pump is a step backwards. TBI is about as well thought out as possible, no real "improvements" need done to it's present condition for basic operation and use.

I'm curious, any chance you've got a spare ECM around? I've not seen it, and ECM's are normally not a problem, so I don't recommend just replacing them (but a spare is never a bad thing to have lol) but getting two sets of codes from the same ECM seems definitely odd.

I still think the scanner is having a problem, but if someone with an '88 R/V service manual can check the codes you posted, that would tell you if they are valid or not.

Well I pulled the cap and rotor to do a tune up and the rod/anode from the cap was completely worn down to the cap. Replaced the cap and rotor and it starts and runs like a top, for now. Gonna drive it to work in yhe morning. Wish me luck.
