hey guys, I have a 32 spline sm465 out of a late 80's model k5. all I have is the tranny, and I'm trying to find an np205 and adapter to go behind it. someone asked me if it's the round or the figure 8 pattern 205. I wasn't sure which one I need, and was hoping you guys could help me out with this. which one do I need to go behind this tranny? does it matter, as long as you get the right adapter? or is the input gear different too? thanks in advance for any input you can give me here.

You need the Round Pattern style. and yes, you need the correct adaptor as well... unless you want to start messing around with cutting shafts

I dont remember precisely, but i want to say a late model SM465-NP208/241 adaptor will work as well... could be wrong on that though

You need a round pattern 205 to go behind a 32 spline 465. The hard part of the deal is finding the adapter. I've had two of them, and sold them both to guys in a bind, and now that I need one, I can't find one.

This will work, BUT you must use the short 32 spline input gear AND must fab a shifter bracket as there is no boss on the 465/208/241 adapter. Oh, and also must grind a notch on the adapter for the 205 shifter rail to clear.

ok, thanks. I was thinking that it was probably the round pattern, from what I've read...but I wasn't sure. and right now, I don't have either adapter, so...I'm trying to find a t-case and adapter together. I was afraid that might be the hard part too. at least now I know what to look for. thanks.
