Did a search and only came up with one previous thread about rubber truck bed mats in a Blazer. Ryoken answered this some time ago when Grimjaw asked, but Ryoken bought the universal mat and cut it to fit. I am looking at the DeeZee mat, which appears to be the same manufacturer as the LRV and Protecta mats. It is 3/8 thick and they have various sizes. I plugged in a 1976 truck, the same year as my Blazer, and Summit has it listed as 48.5" wide by 78.25" long.

However, when I measure my bed it measures nearly 72" wide from metal wall to metal wall and about the same length. Do you think the 48.5" measurement is the space between the wheel wells or is that the widest point on the mat? Anybody buy one of these before other than Ryoken? I can cut it to fit, but I don't want it too narrow from the outset. I would prefer to just have to adjust the length, but have the width right from the outset if possible.

hmmm, hi.... :D

thats why i just went with the universal Protecta, at 72 x 98... I didn't even wanna mess with "where the wells are cut, overall width, etc"

I figured for an extra $20 or something, I'd garauntee no shortages.. plus it gave me some NICE extra hunks.. :wink1:

in retrospect, I almost screwed myself.. The one for the back will now be too short, as I'm extending the back cargo floor forward about 6"... leaving a bare section.. THO I'm working on a low wall, divider, behind the seats, going from the mid, cross rollbar, down to the floor..

that in itself isn't the answer, the 6" storage compartment on the backside of it will cover that space.. basically a 1/2 wall, with storage for tools, recovery gear, etc.. that whole assembly, wall and storage will be made from the composite fiberglass I've used thruout the truck.. lots of compartments, etc.. should be cool.. and in a pinch I can still climb over it to get in the back..

anyway, sorry... :o the rear bedmat has worked FREAKIN awesome... it's been over painted steel, but will be on the herc later.. should make it even more stable.. not that moves at all now...

I still need to buy the one for the front.. which i knew I'd buy another all along... I figured, "it'll be $200 all together".... thought that was reasonable for what I felt would be the best floor covering..

for the front, I've just used a couple leftover rectangles I had leftover from the back for in front of the seats.. but now when i'm done with the cage, I'll fit up a sweet front custom fit one...

I guess if you where ok with just between the wells anything would do ya.. I was just concerned about lengths in front, and behind, the wells on a mat for a pickup, etc...

If your content with just doing flats, imo, it's by far the best solution.. I think my front one will work awesome with the custom floor, tunnel, console I have drawn up..

I see summit has mine...

I don't have a blazer, but here is my suburban comment.

I bough one from an 04ish Dodge short bed (crew cab?) on craigslist for liek $40.

It freaking rocks. It was almost the perfect legnth for behind the 2nd seat in a burb. Wheel wells were a little off, but i modified it. Tough mat. Looks like the same material/pattern as Ryoken's. Mine is over carpet. Besides that......did i mention i love it?

Even provides a complete floormat for teh 3rd row seat for when my buddies spill beer....i mean soda.... back there.

I bought one for a chevy pickup from Tractor Supply Co. (TSC) and cut it to fit using my old carpet as a template.

After seeing where your left overs went Paul, you're giving me ideas! :D

I ended up doing what Ryoken did and ordered the universal mat that I will have to cut to fit. I figured better safe than sorry since I didn't want to have the wheel wells off and then start hacking on it to make that work. I don't think I will have a lot left over as I went with the Dee Zee universal one in a 6 ft. by 8 ft. size. After looking at all the sites that sold them, including Summit, etc., I ended up ordering it through Amazon believe it or not. Every site had it for a different price but all charged shipping. I got mine for $76 and free shipping. Most wanted at least $15-$20 for shipping on top of the item price. Mine will sit on top of a Line-X'ed interior and I wanted it both to help dampen some of the noise but also to save my knees when I am crawling in and out of the back.

Ryoken, I am also making a divider for behind my seat to turn the back into a kind of pickup bed that will keep things from sliding around. When I had the guy do my roll cage, I had him put tabs on the sides of the hoop that goes just behind the front seats. I have a four tabs, two on top and two down low. I am going to fab up a rectangular piece made from angle iron cut and welded together into a frame. Then I will use a steel mesh and weld that into the inside of the frame and put matching tabs on it to bolt the piece to the roll bar when I remove the back seat for solo or two person wheeling. If you check my webshots page and look under the roll cage section I have a pic there of the tabs. I will add to that album when I make the piece.

DrEmu, I also fixed my e-mail.....

I ordered one for the same year longbed pickup truck. I had enough left over to cover the tailgate.

I think mine was for a chevy pickup. I bought it at Tractor Supply. Fit nice. A little trimming was obviously necessary.

Putting the trim for the seat mounts above the rubber was a good call, Mine look goofy just cutout.

Two numbers on the thing, 6886 and 08100 23.
Tractor supply. I'm a cheap bastard, so look for the cheapest one there!

I imagine it'd take a while but my boss had one of these in his work truck. I noticed when i started you had to lift it up to shut the tailgate. I guess over the years with heavy stuff in the back dragging the heavy objects to the back would stretch the rubber. I bet after 2-3 years that thing grew about 4-5 inches :eek1:

I love how they keep things from sliding around...but they do exactly that for things you may wanna pull out later.

Just an observation :dunno:

Beats the hell out of the plastic liners like i got in my truck. **** slides everywhere

The part number for mine was Dee Zee 86721. What are those chrome things in the middle? My Blazer just has six holes where the seat and seat belts bolt down.

Well that sucks, I wish I had that, I think..... My Bronco has that as does my Expedition.

You got a welder ... easy to do, notch out and weld in the buckets and get a later seat.

'Course I know you like to weld sheetmetal less than I do... :haha:
