Rubicon July 2023

Hey guys, I just found out that I have a hookup for a place to stay right at the trailhead.
570 McKinney Rubicon Springs Rd, Tahoma, CA 96142

I need to get more information, but my brother-in-law says that he only rents to family/friends, so it should be available whenever, and it's like $100 a night, and sleeps 15. I don't have much more info than that, but if I go, this might be a nice option. Just wanted to get this written down so I don't forget to say something. :D

That’s very close to the trailhead and could be a good option for a night or two after being on the trail or before the trail if you run it “backwards”.

Cool. I was wondering if this was the "end" or "beginning" of the trail.

Cathy and I are planning on this. Renting a house sounds great! We will be trailering the Blazer from the Albuquerque area. A few logistical questions:

Where can tow rigs and trailers be parked?
How many nights on the trail?

Looking forward to the trip!

If you go in the loon lake side there is plenty of parking...ill be trailering as well. I always park near the helicopter pad.

We parked at the exit, because we did not want to hve yo drive back to the beginning after a couple of days on the trail. And we were headed to fordyce that day.

Planning to run it the "normal" direction, but can't remember which end that starts on.

I'm planning on 2 nights on the trail. If it only takes 1, that's fine but don't want to rush.

We're driving over Saturday & Sunday. Hoping to take our oldest to tour the University of Utah campus if we can arrange it on the way there.

After the trail we want to sightsee something else while we're there. Would like to see some redwoods maybe. Whatever's a reasonable distance from the end of the Rubicon.

Two night on the trail and not being rushed works for us. Wade's method of parking the tow rig and trailer at the Tahoe has it's appeal.

Last time it was camp at Loon the night before.
Sleep on the trail, rushed 1 night.
Sleep in hotel South Lake Tahoe after a Denny's meal or 3.
Drive 2 hours back to Loon next morning fresh, load up, go home.

damn, this sounds good
why does it got to be a weekday trip though :(

less people on the trail.
Including me :(
Already taking time off for an event Scott doesn't have time for anymore. Starting to feel like he doesn't want that ice cream I owe him.
Damn I hope there's a 2020 Rubicon trip :(
