@72gmck5 @the_blaze You down?
Traditional rout is starting in at loon lake and out Tahoma/tahoe side. That's the way I always ran it. Truck will be street legal just towing to save wear and tear. 40s are not cheap enough to wear out on I80I'll want to run it the traditional route; don't remember what that is right now. I don't have a tow rig, so I'll just be running straight thru. I'm pretty sure we'll end up in a rental house near Lake Tahoe to base out of.
how far is the highway trip back?Traditional rout is starting in at loon lake and out Tahoma/tahoe side. That's the way I always ran it. Truck will be street legal just towing to save wear and tear. 40s are not cheap enough to wear out on I80
If you unload in loonlake exit tahoma it's about 85miles back to loon. I personally would unload in Tahoe and find a place to stash the trucks and trailers and drive the 60 or so miles to loon lake and exit tahoma then drive the 25miles back to the tow rigs.how far is the highway trip back?
I use to do the same myself but that a tall task for those who have never ran it. Depending on group size I would think buck would be a good first day. The harder part of the trail is from buck and out to top of Cadillac. I'm not the one doing the scheduling on this trip so I'm just along for the ride. I just feel with some first timers may be best to let them enjoy the time going threw and not be pushed. Buck is always a good stopping point to do a nut and bolt check and rest up. But who knows we may all just go threw with no problems and can make the springs before dark. I'd just hate to see guys make a 10 to 11hr drive to not see the trail during the day.I usually start at Loon Lake on day 1, wheel to and camp at Buck Island Lake...day 2, I run to the Rubicon Springs and turn around and head back to Buck Island Lake where my camp site is at...day 3 I then wheel back to Loon Lake to the tow rig. I have not driven all the way through and back around yet.

I'm figuring 2 days on the trail.
