Front welded isn't so bad if you have a 205 you can pop in and out of 4 wd easy.

It will just make the truck not want to turn on harder surfaces. Should be fine. I would eventually replace it. But just run it for now.
Without assist your gonna hate it
Yeah, the more I thought about it I realized that it's no different than running with an ox locker or something. Just that I can't turn it off lol.. I figure it'll do until I can get gears and all that. Then I'll just do the Detroit carrier for 4.56s. unless I get this other flatbed, then I'll just run that Carrier and gears with a Spartan or something.
I would just only lock one of your hubs if you're going to be on hard pack. Then when you need it lock in both.
I never had good luck leaving one hub unlocked. It gets really hard to control. I ran a welded front diff for many years but I had hydraulic assist. One thing that you have to do is use the throttle more when turning on snow/ice or it will go pretty much straight.
I'm thinking I have an age/era discrepancy in my parts lol... I'm really not sure what direction to start in to fix it

Those are older wiper arms. Just get some newer ones and your golden

Those are the newer arms lol. I figured out that the cowl is different 84 down. The splined shaft it connects to is taller 85 and up. 84 down the splined part is shorter, And the cowl sits lower. I'm just going to remove the cowl and call it good lol. Not meant to be a pretty truck. I'll do something different later.
Oh so you either need the correct wiper mechanism or an older cowl to match the current wiper mechanism?
Rick I think the split was the fender and hood change so. 80. Anything with the separate cowl piece should be correct. Anything with no separate piece should be wrong.

I found this pic on fleabay, but it came out bad when I saved it.. but it sort of shows it... In lmc the parts split for wiper stuff is 84/85. So I'm not really sure.
Look at the difference in the hole area. Grey one seems lower and dimpled in for the mechanism... That one said like 81-84 in the ad. Other one said up into 88

The wiper posts on the newer cabs are taller than the older cabs and have 3 bolt holes rather than 2. The mechanism as a whole is different as well. I wonder if they just used a newer VIN tag in the older cab and swapped on the newer front clip?
That's what I'm thinking.. I did jump up and read the Vin to make sure it matched the title. But I never paid attention to wether or not the rivets were stock. Stock ones have little bumps around the edge that look sorta like flower pedals.
I know the steering column at least is newer.. but I'm not super familiar with the other little things that could giveaway cab age. I do know it has the newer wiper motor also... Which is another wiper dilemma I have.... The plugs on the harness are for the older motor. But that's the chassis harness and I knew the chassis was older
