Rumble Bee. (Getting cannibalized for the greater good)

I thought of that, but I'll have to see what I can do... I just don't want it red.

A roll in would probably be fine too.. it's only gotta look sorta good lol. I'm thinking paint for now because I haven't solidified plans on the rear yet. I may have more cutting/welding to do. Bed liner would make that harder

I'm not selling it like I had thought. I figured if I have it, I'll keep it. It's still donating some parts to the crew this winter. But I'm putting it together enough to take it out a couple times this fall.

Mainly just need to lose the welded diff.

My wife just got a job, and I'm paid down far enough for it to be feasible to sell the red Silverado. So hopefully this winter I can swap the parts, and rebuild the ones from the crew for this by spring. Plan is still to open the cab back, cage, rear seat, etc.

Plan has always been to narrow the rear of the bed some and then pinch the front a little too. But that's much later.

This will be my DD for a while between selling the red truck and getting the crew titled probably.

Kind of why I want to make it look a tad better for now

Edit: and ALSO why I need to lose the welded diff. Lol

My rear is welded and I don't think its that annoying on the street. Then again I haven't put a lot of miles on it.

Rear wouldn't be bad. Front pretty much locks up everything when in 4x. Can't turn at all, just goes straight. Even with just one wheel locked in for some reason:dunno:. I have to stop, put it in 2x, unlock both hubs, wiggle it back and forth a bit, then turn and go forward... When that's done, if I want it in 4x again, I lock it all back in and do over :doah:... With a manual and no park brake yet, that means shutting it off and re starting every time too. Huge PITA lol.

Rear I wouldn't really care as much.

This is my current layout for cutting the rears. It's not needed to clear at the moment, but it'll look like the front a little more. Then I have to sand a bunch and prime it.

And I need to figure out what I'm doing with these old brake light holes. Since my lights are now in, and staying in, my bumper.

I was thinking that... But I'm not sure what I would do then.... I think it'd look weird lol. I have some white led lights for reverse lights that I could stick in the current brake location, then put the brake lights there I guess...

But I kind of like the look of them where they are.. my intention was to put the white ones in the angled parts of the bumper once I get them welded on. Bottle is empty right now, so no welding for a bit.

I have some metal that would be perfect to fill the holes though.

The diamond plate idea was posted while I was writing that last post lol... I do have some thin diamond plate around .

I like the brake lights where they are now so that they are more eye level to cars behind me.

Looking at his just made me realize I have no side markers in the rear.... That would be a good place for those ..... And I need to get a set lol

An led flasher will fix the fast flash pretty cheap and easy also.

I keep hearing that. But yet my truck still won't flash.
I have tried all the led flashers, yada, yada yada...good thing it has been retired to Saturday night special.

On closer inspection it seems my multi leaf springs are made from 2 different sets. So I'll probably pull out the ones that don't match when I mess with the axles .

New tierod from an amazon kit. And I built a case spreader to help with the carrier swap. Few pics of that process.

Didn't get a lot of pics of the case spreader build. But I remembered to catch one at least lol.

I put the cover over it to verify that the holes line up correctly

It dawned on me that I haven't really ever checked any fluids except oil in this :doah:. Haven't really driven it much though either :dunno:.

Found that the radiator is only half full. Front resevoir in the master cylinder was basically empty.
And the power steering can is pretty much empty too.

Radiator I have seen no leaks :dunno:
Brakes I filled when I bought it, have seen no leaks yet, and after filling it again the other day then driving it, still no leaks visible ... ?
Power steering is leaking at the gearbox, and still has a full hose going up to the reservoir. So I just have to top that off. I don't want to rebuild this box if I'm going to go crossover at some point. Still debating that one though.
I'll probably be using the rebuild kit I got on the crewcab for now

Plus these showed up finally for the carrier swap. I need to call summit though and get some money back. Because the parts I put in my cart were timken :mad2:

I'm going to just use them, but I want the money difference back out of principal.
