So you've come to the conclusion that electric fans are not necessarily evil then? : )

How hard would it be to wire them up so that low was at 195 (or whatever your t-stat is, maybe a bit higher) and high was at say 220?

I'm just thinking of freeway cruise and noise, you probably won't have a problem with the freeway part, but the turning fans aren't really helping at speed. I've got to figure out my fans too, except mine are single speeds, but one on at X temp the other on at 232*...want to bring that second temp down a fair amount, and eliminate the AC interference for that fan : )

[/ QUOTE ]It would be as simple as another relay (#3) $8, and another thermostat (#2) $20. I thought of that, but I don't really care to give it the chance of getting any warmer than 220*, so the 195* trigger is fine for me. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Well, just an update on this illusive overheating problem. So far I have tried numerous t-stats, had the radiator recored and tested, replaced the lower radiator hose with one with a spring, two new radiator caps, new temp sending unit, and for sure don't have a lean condition...in fact it is too rich at the moment. I guess the last reasonable items are the water pump, which is new, and the guage in the dash.

It still runs cool at idle and heats up with high RPM. Oh!...one more thing...when driving it will hit 240 or so, but when I pull into the driveway the radiator is pretty cool. Now if I hold the RPM at around 2500 sitting in the driveway it will still heat up just as hot, but this time when I feel the radiator it is HOT! I'm confused.

Anyway, just an update.

Check the valve adjustment, check compression. It could be either tha valves adj, or a bad head gasket.
You have tried everythign else, check these out and let us know what happens.
