A budy of mine and I are trying to convert his 2wd '63 chevy pickup from manual drums all around over to 4 wheel disc. We just went to the wrecking yard and got the hydro setup and have all ready converted the front end to disc. He is dead set on keping his manual stering. So is there a way to run just the brakes with this setup? can you just plug the pressure line going from the booster to the box?

Anything with a fix displacement pump is an open center hydraulic system. Plugging the port that goes to the steering box is going to prevent fluid circulating back to the reservoir even though there is already a return line going back to the reservoir. That return probably only works while the booster is activated. But, since I don’t know what the hydraulic circuit looks like, I can’t say for sure. I do know plugging that port is not good. I probably turn that line that goes to the steering box into another return line.
