Ok so my truck is nearing time to get on the road..

however i have a big issue.. i sanded down the truck and primed it a few years ago.. since primer is pourous... and i didnt paint it.. rust is coming through...

i hit some with a sander and down to metal... but you can see an outline of the rust spot vs clean metal... now there are ALOT of rust spots on this thing... since it is a woods truck... i dont care much.. but dont want holes to get put in from rust eating through.....

so i found this on google..
http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/secrets-surface-rust-removal-revealed-55679.html

is this good to do or anyone have any good tricks?
were talking a fullsize 78... roof is HORRIBLE!!!! hood isnt too bad... fenders arent too bad but the doors and Bed are terrible....

Sand blast the rust and reprime then use a urethane sealer. When done pack up and move to the lower midwest.

I've used a tannic acid or phosphoric acid solution (usually packaged as a rust treatment or metal prep) according to the instructions, then continue with body work after treatment, avoiding any rust formation again....zinc chromate works well for rust preventive, but is not to be left without topcoat for exposure to the elements.

If your rust is only surface this a good way.
You also can buy similar products that you just spray on and it converts rust to a stable oxide. You just need to remove any scaling and get down to almost metal it will do the rest

This is funny.
I am sitting here reading this while I am getting loaded at Valspar paints.

now i drink box wine from a nascar pint glass.. i have had about 6 right now... so that equates to a bottle and a half of wine..

I HAVE NO CLUE ON WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!!

you quoted my " ...." !~!!!!!! :haha:

now i was able to go out and sand the interrior... well just some..
not painting where the dash pad or door pieces go....

also not painting the floor as i will do some sort of bedliner...

got to take my son to a b-day party... 2 kids with soccer and hockey and parties... leaves little time to get stuff done...

but here are 2 pics..
i still have to tidy up the wires from my ez-wiring job...
but interior to see what im dealing with... going to primer it tonight when i get back from the parties...
painting truck tomorrow DEFINITELY!!! no one will bother me...
so it is waiting for the paint roller :woot:

there is a migshift 1" body lift under the bed that i have to remove.. was going to put one on the entire truck.. but then i need gas tank protectors per the inspection station.. so screw it.. ill take it off before i go....

I think it looks good. How will it run being painted Ford blue?

well i figure the ford guys use a chevy implant for the power.. so i got the power of the GM and the Perdyness of a Ferd :haha:

although i think the body is rejecting some of the paint.. think the truck is mad at me!!!!!!!!! with the next 4 days of rain coming.. dont think ill get to the interior and fender flares and snorkel.....

also it dried darker... more pics to come later..

looks good from 20 feet away... :haha:

You gonna let Papa Smurf drive it :haha::haha::haha:
