I'm planning out a vacation project, I thought I would tell you about. My DD pickup has step bars, and to my astonishment I found out they are now showing heavy rust on both ends, and some under paint bubbling. It's amazing they are only 4 years old ( thanks heavt Northeast winters). The plan is to remove them, sand them down somewhat, remove the rust and fkaing paint. Then I'm going to use rust bullet on all the exposed metal and rusted surfaces. I'm then going to apply black Durback paint to the entire step bars. I think it would improve the use of the bars and the look. This is my first paint project so feel free to check me if I missed anything or need anything. Thanks.
