You can block up the body from the rear tires up to the underside of the wheelwells in the rear. You really want to replace the structural support stuff first...which would be your tailpan. For this you'll need to lift the body somewhat anyways. You'll also want that gas tank down and out of the way (and out of harms way).
A couple of bottle jacks from the rear tires will do a fine job for lifting the body as needed. I removed the last four body mount bolts completely, loosened the ones behind the front seat a lot, and loosened the ones ahead of those somewhat. This allowed me to get the body up enough to replace the tailpan.
When I did all my rust repair I actually went out and bought a Campbell Hausfeld 80 amp 110 volt mig welder and just figured it into the cost of doing the repair. I paid about $250 for it at the time...
Once the tailpan has been replaced the rear of the body will be well enough supported that the rest is fairly easy.
