Rusty Dents + Beer + spraypaint =

Well Burt you already know my opinion but I'll post it on this site as well....

Your truck is a fully-evolved 1st Gen K5. It has survived countless wheeling adventures over the last dozen years, and this latest flop notwithstanding, it has almost no body damage.

This is a tribute to the fact that you are a VERY good driver, and know the dimensions of your rig....and have the sense not to wedge it into trails where it clearly won't fit.

I think it would be a dis-service to throw a rattlecan paintjob on this truck. It has been a part of your family for TOO long, and has survived too much to be treated like that..... I think you should go the other way, and give it the same "truck spa" treatment that you gave the engine compartment.

1. Fix the weird doors - figure out why they don't close right and fix them.

2. Fix or modify the softtop to stretch properly, either by creating a new custom intermediate frame, or adapting it to work better with your cage.

3. Details - repaint rockers, frame and bumpers that have become scruffy over time. Maybe clean up the interior a bit, tidy up the wiring that is drooping under the dash or fix the little things (like dash lights that don't work, or broken gauges) to make the truck feel newer again.

Think of it as one of those "reality makeover" projects. Take a few before and after shots.....stuff like that.

I think your truck deserves the respect of a nicer paint repair.... it has served you well for many years and has earned the right to a more "thoughtful" repair.

Well put Greg!
Hopefully I can buy back some time in life and do the things you highlighted for me :D
My first deal will be to get that rearend to stop wraping up on me and at the same time add a rear halo to my cage. This will add rear seat pertection as well as lift my soft top up in the center giving it a much tighter fit.
Body and paint is on the list just not at the top of it :doah: plus I have never been into the bling bling thing so makin things perrrty is new to me
Thanks Fellas for all the replys

I agree with Greg. You've got a bad-a$$ rig. Your rig looked sweet in the dark brown before. Don't make it getto with a lame rattle can paint job.

I personnaly like the olive drab green color that you used to spot it with. It would be sweet to paint it solid that color. Maybe even clear coat it afterwards. It would give it an old/antique yet rugged look to it.

Otherwise I agree with you, Burt, about the bling. I don't go for a lot of bling, but I still want it looking decent. I don't think camo would work.
