RV camper roof repair

Whores everywhere!!!!

Dave weather should be good for the next week or so I hear... Id let it all air out best you can and get on it.

more pics....

Whole roof shot and shots of the corner and retainer/finishing???? strips

I assume the whole upper side strip has to come off (pic of my hand holding the roof fabric) to put the roofing under that strip and against the siding?

The putty that is under the corner strips and I assume the upper side strips too, does that come by the roll?

hope the tarp is water tight, I found a few spots last night while putting it on that were questionable....light rain today, broomed off a few puddles on the tarp...Sunny tomorrow...I'll back at it.

got the back repairs made today...just getting the staples out, and the old glue off the existing wood was a bitch....ended using a 1/8" grinding disc on my angle grinder to get the glue and broken rusty staples down to the surface of the rood studs.

I ran a couple new studs across the roof where needed, and with the new deck in place its solid once again!

Will need to replace the rear running lights at the top, the wood backer (that the light housings secure to) on the inside of the rear wall siding metal have fallen off, so will need to redo those as well. I will use some sealant on the back of the housings as well as the screws that secure them.

My new materials should be here by the 9th, should be ready to put the roof membrane patches on by then.

a few pics of todays progress

Dave that side molding putty does come in a roll. It's called butyl (spelling??) tape.

got the front/side section repaired today...a few new trusses married to the old, and some cross supports for the seam in the new/old wood for extra strength...man what a difference 1/8" makes in the strength of that roof! Having a big cutout for the A/C ducting sure takes away from it as well.

The last couple days have resulted in this, now just waiting for the materials to arrive to put down the new membrane and button it up.

tapered the edges of the new thicker wood to transition to the old, put some expanding foam sealer in the gaps to seal them up as well and help with the transition too. I will hit them with the flap disc to smooth them out before the seam tape goes on.

I decided it would be best to go as far as the area of the A/C where it sits on the roof. An additional cross support and new decking to hold the weight of that unit should be a bonus.

Looks like rain for a couple days is possible, and a busy working weekend means I won't get back to it til Monday weather allowing!

this last pic of the foam sealer in the gaps.

Thanks for the links on what to do....that was a totally new experience for me!

got over an inch of rain yesterday....No leaks.!:waytogo:

the A/C works well...after having that unit off the roof I figured something would go wrong with it.. but no, its cooling great!

The water heater is working again...bad element, the new running lights and tail-lights all work again too....

PRIMO, ready for Silver Lake!

right on! fill the fridge with neer and fireball and hit the dunes! :pimp:

Can't take the camper out on the dunes (what a fuk of a deal that would be to get that out there???) and the fridge don't work, its just a storage box now...but coolers and neers and probably some fireball will be chillin' soon!
