ok, someone please help me out here. I'm trying to figure out how to get a 32 spline 465/203 combo together. I already have a 32 spline sm465, a 32 spline np203, and a factory 465/203 adapter. what do I need to do, or get, to make all this work together? I've read all the tech stuff about it on ORD's site, and as far as I can tel...it sounds like the stock output shaft on the 465 will be too long with that adapter, and that I'd have to use a 208 adapter for it to work..is this right? I really wanna use the 203 adapter, to keep the whole thing as short as possible, and since I already have that crossmember. is there any way to make the factory output shaft work, or do I have to go with an aftermarket one? It says on ORD's page that they make one...but it's not listed anywhere on the site...anyone know if they still sell these, or how much they are? and is there any other company that sells these? I'm trying to get this done as soon as possible, and I'd realy appreciate any input you guys can give me on this. thanks in advance.

John

yeah, I know I can use the 465/208 adapter, but like I said...I don't wanna go that route if I don't have to, because it's a lot longer than the 465/203 adapter...and I'm trying to keep it is as short as possible. I'm sure someone here has to be running a setup like this, or at least knows how to do it. anyone?

hmm, well that pretty much sucks. with everyone running doublers these days, I would think there'd be plenty of interest in getting a 32 spline 203 hooked up, and keeping it as short as possible. anyone else know of any other companies that sell these? anyone else using this same setup with the 208 adapter? any likes/dislikes about it? if I do have to go that route...is it just a matter of having the 203 re-drilled, and then bolting it up, and that's it? where would I take it to have it re-drilled? will I need to take them an empty case to do it, or can do it as is?

The shaft in my link was machined by OTT Industries. I don't see why you couldn't have one made up the same. A shaft donor (2wd 465) is not hard to come by. The 465/208 adapter is a scant over 8" long. I would use a transfer punch to mark the 203 case and drill/tap it myself. I see places like Novak (and probably others) have really short SM465 adapters to mate to a D300 for example. Why not have a shaft machined to match it instead?

yeah, I tried to look at the link you posted, but...you have to register to see it apparently. so I tried to register, and it wasn't working. any other way you can post it, or...something?

ORD has them made in batches and dont have them in stock all the time.Getting one of their shafts and a 400 input for your 203 is by far the easiest way to go :D

yeah, tat's what I was planing on doing. I already have the th400 input...that's what the 203 is mated behind right now. just trying to figure out how or where to get the shorter shaft for the 465.somebody said they don't think ORD makes them anymore. I've already sent them an e-mail asking about it, but I haven't gtten anything back from them. I know they'e pretty bus, and I didn't really expect a reply any time soon, if at all, from them. I guess I'll just have to call them and ask about it when I get a day off.

Check with NWF? They reproduce the 465/203 adapter... maybe they have plans for a shaft?

Calling is the best way to get info. They have never had that shaft listed on their site I dont think.I dont think its a high volume part but is a great product.I got lucky when I ordered mine because they had a batch on the way :D

Hey guys, we don't cut down the 2wd shafts here but you are on the right track for getting the shortest set-up. Check with John at Sumner. He might be able to help you out. Great guy to work with as well.

wow, that was fast...a reply before I even had a chance to ask! thanks for letting me know. so what is Sumner, and what all do they do? I've never heard of them...do they have a website or something. or a number, or...how do you get ahold of them?

b454rat has it right. John was a part of WMS before it all went to hell. He was the originator of the doubler. Like I mentioned above a great guy to work with. I highly recommend him.
