S&W Cage question

The reason mine is so far away from the dash is I moved the main hoop back so I could keep the seats where I felt comfortable. I have monkey arms and long legs. In the future Im going to cut out the over head hoop and front bars and go higher and further forward then it will be almost hidden. I have done many racecar cages just didnt have the time or equipment to do what I wanted. The rest of the kit was perfect and went together very well. But like has been said any "kit" will have its flaws. If I had to do over again Id still go with the S&W just change up the front a bit. I dont want a jungle gym, just enough to keep me safe and comfortable at the same time.

I agree with blazed. I went with the S&W strictly because im on a very tight budget. Actually...i have no money now and that is the reason I havent gotten it put in yet. I dont really care what it looks like, as long as it doesnt extremely interfere with me driving and keeps me safe in a roll...im happy.

I dont own a welder or have access to one....does anyone know a good price that a reputable shop would charge for strictly labor on installing the pre bent S&W cage?? Thanks.

I know just what you mean. seeing as how I put the S&W cage kit in a pickup cab, i needed all the room I could get. The back hoop is all the way as far back as I could go and the front pillar bars are pretty much as far forward as I wanted to go. The pillar bar is about 2.5 to 3" from the dash.

Its a little uncomfortable sitting in the truck because I had to slid the bench seat a little forward, but I now have some Summit buckets that I will mount and hopefully they will sit a little farther back.

Right now I have the cage bolted to the floor, eventually I will probably weld it in. I still have to add some frame tie ins. But I am not sure how involved I want to get with the cage. I've pretty much decided that next winter I am going to taper the front and build an exocage, so I dont think I am going to install the door bars and dash bar right now. I may just use that tube to make a center console to mount my B&M ratchet shifter.
